Per the State Standards of Practice for a heating inspection, we inspect installed heating equipment, vent systems, flue and chimneys, heat distribution systems. We open readily accessible and openable access panels to gain access to the heating equipment.
In our report, we describe the type of heating system and the energy source(s) that it uses.
The State Standards of Practice indicate that we are not required to inspect the interiors of vent systems, flues and chimneys that are not readily accessible. We also are not required to inspect heat exchangers, electric air filter and sanitization systems and devices, humidifiers and dehumidifiers, geothermal heating systems, solar heating systems, water-source heating systems and other heating systems that depend on renewable energy technologies. In addition, we are not required to determine the adequacy of the heat supply or the balance of the heat distribution system. We also are not required to determine the adequacy of combustion or combustion air components.
